Offshoring: Nighthawk Radiology Services
In addition to the growing trend of businesses outsourcing jobs, now hospitals are jumping on the bandwagon. When a patient needs an X-Ray read in the middle of the night, no longer will a dreary-eyes radiologist be woken, now radiologists in Banglore and India can be called to examine the results. Companies such as "Nighthawk Radiology" provides high-quality, cost-effective radiology services to hospitals across the United States.
Off-Shoring: An Elusive Phenonmenon
A report of the Panel of The National Academy of Public Administration for the U.S. Congress and the Bureau of Econonic Analysis reported in 2006 about "Off-Shoring" Jobs and its benefits and down sides. The found that the migration of U.S. jobs to foreign countried is neither new nor unstudied. For example, a chart labeled "Private-Sector Gross Jobs Losses, Total Private" reveals that between 1992 and 2004 gross jobs gained peaked in 2000 (along with the economy) and has been dropping ever since. Gross job losses peaked in 2002 when the recession hit and has been steadily rising and dropping since.
Economics of Outsourcing
Professor Mark Reiman's International Economic class did a study to observe the pros and cons of outsourcing U.S. jobs. They also found statistics such as "3.3 million jobs are expected to be outsourced to Inida and China over the next several years". In addition to their studies, they revealed that the majority of outsourcing books and additional information are mainly anti-outsourcing, thus making it increasingly difficult to find unbiast information. They state that it is important to note that "job loss is part of a normal economic cycle".
Growth of Services Outsourcing to India: U.S. International Trade Commision
William Greene (U.S. International Trade Commision) released a report on outsourcing to foreign countries such as India the exposes its benefits and potential liabilities. Some of the benefits include Labor Arbitrage, the opportunity to build a global production chain, and the ability to provide round-the-clock service to customers. Some liabilities include loss of institutional knowledge, loss of management control, and vendor underperformance. This report provides a factual and well-balanced source of information on outsourcing.
TRADE: Outsourcing Jobs
This article is about how outsourcing jobs has become an increasingly controversial topic ever since the economy peaked in 2000. It is a progressively growing practice among businesses looking to lower their operative costs. Although most economists say it will ultimately strengthen the economy, it causes two major problems. It leads to massive layoffs of U.S. workers and thousands of dislocations. With the economy still in recession, many people argue that now is one of the worst times to be sending jobs oversees and with companies not required to keep record of these types of statistics, no one knows for sure just how many jobs have been outsourced thus far. The problem is that many economists argue that outsourcing is just another form of free trade, which ultimatley boosts wealth in the economy.
